Enugu man arrested for robbing POS operator at gunpoint

The police command in Enugu has arrested and detained a 28-year-old suspect, Michael Ayisa, for robbing a point-of-sale operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Udenu council area.
Spokesperson for the command, Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Sunday that the police, in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, also recovered weapons from the suspect.
Mr Ndukwe said, “The suspect was arrested at Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA, following a report that he had robbed the victim at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor in Udenu LGA, on 17 October 2026, at about 9:00 p.m.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled and was allegedly threatening to shoot anyone pursuing him. A Beretta-like pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell were recovered from him, while the suspect has confessed to the crime during interrogation.”
The police commissioner, Mamman Giwa, while commending the operatives and the neighbourhood watch group, said the suspect will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
