EPL: Aston Villa extend goalless run after 0-0 draw with Hull City

Aston Villa settled for a goalless draw against newly promoted side Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, as Unai Emery’s side continue to search for their first goal of the new campaign.
Villa missed goal-scoring opportunities in the opening minutes of the game, with chances from Nicolas Jackson, Ross Barkley and George Hemmings.
After the break, Villa missed out again on chances from John McGinn and Emiliano Buendia, who failed to convert the visitors’ best chance of the game.
The hosts also had key moments, including a huge chance from Algerian international Mohamed Belloumi that hit the crossbar. Villa’s keeper Zion Suzuki also frustrated Hull, holding the game at 0-0.
The result records Villa’s second consecutive season without scoring in their first three opening games.
Elsewhere in Saturday’s Premier League fixtures, Manchester City beat Coventry City 1-0, as Erling Haaland earned his 300th career goal, sealing a perfect start for the club and Enzo Maresca as they go nine points clear in the league standings.
Crystal Palace edged Fulham 3-2 thanks to Ben Chilwell’s late winner.
Brentford and Sunderland settled for a 1-1 draw, and Brighton also drew 1-1 against Leeds in their first home fixture.
Jacob Ramsey’s 88th-minute equaliser maintained Newcastle’s unbeaten streak as the Magpies drew 2-2 against Bournemouth, while Tottenham Hotspur failed to pick up their first point of the season, following their goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
