The Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repatriated the body of Nash Amoonu Jailor, who was allegedly attacked and killed in March 2026 by a mob in East London, South Africa.

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a statement on Monday, said the remains of the late 37-year-old, which arrived in Ghana on Thursday, were handed over to the family at no cost.

He said,  “The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has repatriated the body of Nash Amoonu Jailor, a 37-year-old Ghanaian who was killed in an alleged mob attack in March 2026 at East London in South Africa.

“The body arrived in Ghana on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 3 p.m., and was subsequently handed over to his family officially.

“The repatriation was undertaken at no cost to the family, with the government covering the associated expenses.”

Mr Ablakwa, while conveying the government’s condolences to the bereaved family, assured them of support and urged them to remain strong during this difficult period.

The government, through the Ghanaian High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa, has insisted on a swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr Jailor’s death and for justice to be served.

The Ghanaian government vowed to remain committed to protecting the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad.
