In a statement on Wednesday, Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesman, said the officers also killed two suspected kidnappers during Tuesday’s incident, which occurred at about 10:00 a.m.

He said the police operatives conducted the operation alongside members of the Vigilante Service and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

“following credible information about the presence of suspected kidnappers operating around Auchanawa and Wambai areas all in Ikara local government of the state,” he said.

Mr Hassan stated that upon arrival at the identified location, the security team engaged the criminals in a gun duel.

“Two suspected kidnappers were also neutralised during the encounter, while several others fled into the surrounding bushes with possible gunshot wounds,” Mr Hassan said.

He added that three members of the CJTF lost their lives during the operation, while two police officers sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical attention.
