The Ondo State police command says it arrested three persons believed to have dismantled a stolen vehicle and sold its components.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, in a statement on Sunday in Akure, named the arrested persons as Akinsanoye Rotimi, Folajimi Temidayo and Oguntunde Sunday.

Mr Jimoh said the arrest followed the report of a stolen vehicle at the Idanre Divisional Police Headquarters on October 12.

According to him, the complainant reported that at about 6:00 a.m on the said date, he discovered that his ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 302 AA was missing from his residence.

He stated, “Upon receipt of the complaint, the division’s police operatives immediately commenced an investigation, deploying intelligence-led policing and other investigative strategies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the theft.

“The investigation led to the arrest of Rotimi, who confessed to masterminding the theft. Further information obtained during interrogation led to the arrest of Temidayo and Sunday, both residents of Lagos State.

“The interrogation and investigation also led to the recovery of a gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number WEN 305 AE. The suspects disclosed that the complainant’s stolen vehicle had been dismantled and its components sold as spare parts.”

Mr Jimoh said that the suspects were arraigned and remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre in Akure.

The command’s spokesperson quoted the state’s Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, as urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“Timely and credible information remains critical to preventing crime and bringing offenders to justice,” he further quoted the CP as saying.
