Nollywood actress Omotunde Ogundimu has expressed gratitude to veteran actress Funke Akindele for providing financial support amid her battle with cervical cancer.

Ogundimu, in a statement on her social media page on Thursday, said she was deeply moved by Akindele’s incredible financial gesture.

“Please help me pray for Funke Akindele for blessing me this morning towards my cancer treatment; she gave me a huge amount of money ni. Iya Ibeji, God will never forsake you, Laila. You will forever continue to grow from strength to strength,” the actress stated.

Ogundimu described the surprising financial intervention as timely as she continues to navigate her cancer treatment.

“The first call I got this morning was from Funke. I was really surprised cos I wasn’t expecting it. Chaii! God is just too good to me,” she added

Akindele’s support came after Ogundimu, in a an interview on Wednesday, appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance to enable her to continue treatment for cervical cancer.

The actress disclosed that she was diagnosed with the disease in 2024 after undergoing a series of medical tests.

“It was when I did those tests that they said I had cervical cancer. I said ‘Where did I get cancer from?’ I am an easy-going person,” the actress said. “I no longer have the strength. I have called several people, and many have helped me. My children have also been spending all their income to take care of me. They do not have time for themselves.”

The development came amid cancer-related deaths among Nollywood actors in the country.

Days ago, popular actress Atinuke Kareem died after battling breast cancer.

Her death came days after veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, otherwise known as Ogodo, died after battling stage four cancer.

Meanwhile, actress Toyin Alausa recently raised concern over the increase in the number of cancer-related deaths among her colleagues in the industry, urging awareness and access to cancer treatment.
