“I’m off the streets; I don’t like guys wasting my time,” says Tems

Nigerian Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has said she is officially “off the streets”, sparking reactions among her fans and well-wishers.
She disclosed this during a TikTok livestream on Monday, while speaking about her experiences with men and her decision to move away from relationships she considers unproductive.
She said, “I don’t like it when guys waste my time. But for me, never again. I don’t have that problem anymore. I have left the streets; I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets.”
The singer said she was tired of men wasting her time and indicated that she no longer wanted to deal with people approaching her for ulterior motives.
However, the comments triggered widespread reactions online, with fans curious about what she meant by being “off the streets.”
Her latest revelation consequently added a new dimension to public interest in her personal life, even as she continues to maintain a relatively private profile.
The singer has established herself as one of Nigeria’s superstar following the success of songs such as “Try Me” and her collaborations with global artistes, including Wizkid and Drake.
She has since won a Grammy Award and earned international recognition for her distinctive blend of Afrobeats, R&B and soul.
The Grammy-winning artist recently unveiled the Leading Vibe Initiative, a new platform to support and amplify women in Africa’s music industry.
