Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said officers of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) have been mobilised to address the traffic congestion around Kara Bridge and adjoining sections of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

Mt Abiodun in a statement on Wednesday, said the deployed officers would collaborate with security, emergency, and traffic management agencies to coordinate and provide assistance to motorists and other road users trapped in gridlock.

Mr Abidun stated, “The Ogun State Government has announced urgent measures to tackle severe traffic congestion currently affecting movement around Kara Bridge and adjoining sections of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

“The state has mobilised the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) to strengthen traffic coordination and provide assistance to road users.”

The governor noted that the corridor was of strategic importance to residents, workers, businesses, and travellers.

He stated, “TRACE personnel are working in collaboration with security, emergency, and traffic management agencies to clear obstructions, prevent further gridlock, and ease movement along the affected axis.”

He urged motorists to “approach the area with caution, avoid driving against traffic, and refrain from creating additional lanes, which often worsen congestion and delay emergency operations.” 

He also advised commercial drivers and articulated vehicle operators to show restraint and comply with traffic directions.

The governor assured that the situation would continue to be monitored with personnel and resources deployed until restoration of normal traffic flow.

Appreciating the patience and cooperation of road users, the governor stressed that the immediate priority of the government was to protect lives, maintain order, and reduce the inconvenience faced by commuters.
