Police arrest two Niger suspects over alleged theft

The Niger State police command has arrested two suspects for allegedly breaking into a store and stealing solar cables, electric motorcycle, bicycle and other items in the Suleja area council of the state.

The state police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, stated this in a statement on Wednesday.

Mr Abiodun said, “On August 24, 2026 at about 10:00 a.m, a report was made in Maje Division from 2nd gate area that on August 21, 2026, at about 2pm, some persons broke into a property located around a filling station in the area, who were later identified as Abdulmajid Umar of Kaduna road and one Nafiu.”

He stated that the two suspects criminally trespassed and gained entrance to the property through the fence, adding that the suspects carted away solar cables, electric motorcycle, bicycle and other items valued at over one million naira. 

He added that the operatives commenced investigation and one Abdulmajid Umar was nabbed including the receiver; Ibrahim Adamu of Kaduna.

Mr Abiodun noted that the motorcycle and solar cables were recovered.

“The suspects were charged to court and remanded in the correctional centre while effort to arrest others is ongoing,” Mr Abiodun said.
