One soldier killed, six wounded as military repels Boko Haram attack in Yobe

The Nigerian Army lost a soldier and currently treating six others following a Boko Haram attack on 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni-Yadi, Yobe, military sources told Peoples Gazette.
An unconfirmed number of insurgents stormed the military base Saturday evening in about 10 gun trucks and one VBL — a light armoured vehicle, but were overpowered and pursued by the gallant troops up to the Ganinja area of the state, military sources said Monday.
The Gazette learnt that although the number of Boko Haram casualties has yet to be ascertained, the VBL and a gun truck were captured by the troops.
The Gazette also understands that the wounded soldiers are currently receiving treatment in the Brigade’s medical facility.
“Troops are on maximum red alert”, our sources said citing the Brigade’s situation report. “Troops morale and fighting efficiency remain satisfactory.”
A military spokesman did not immediately return a request for comment Monday morning.
The army’s 27 Task Force Brigade is one of the military formations combating insurgency in the troubled northeastern part of the country.
Boko Haram elements have remained on the offensive after they were forcefully dislodged from their stronghold in Sambisa Forest.
