Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka KWAM 1, has brokered a peace deal between the National Union of Road Transport Workers’ national president, Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya, and the Lagos chairman of the union, Mustapha ‘Tafa Sego’ Adekunle.

Kwam 1’s digital media announced the development on Tuesday, saying the reconciliation took place in Ojusagbola, Ijebu, Ogun, with several NURTW chieftains present.

According to the statement, the two NURTW chieftains finally reconciled after years of a prolonged rift.

“After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final,” the statement said. “This time, it was not just another handshake for the cameras. The two old friends and colleagues came together at Ojusagbola, with King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) playing the peacemaker.”

The statement said KWAM 1 used his position as Mayegun of Yorubaland to intervene in the matter, adding that the warring parties were satisfied with the development.

“K1 acted in his role as the Mayegun of Yorubaland by seeking an end to the long-standing rift, once and for all. Both parties are delighted about the new development,” it added.

The reconciliation came after years of rift between the two NURTW figures over the leadership of the union in Lagos.

Tensions between the duo boiled over publicly at several events, including KWAM 1’s New Year All White Party in January, where supporters from Mr Sego’s camp voiced disagreement over recognition of the leadership.
