The Adamawa State police command has said a tea seller at Banga, Nassarawo Borehole, Jimeta, Muhammad Idris, was beaten to death by four men.

In a statement on Tuesday by the state police spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command said the police launched a probe into circumstances leading to the man’s death.

“On 28th September, 2026, one Aliyu Idris, elder brother of the deceased, reported at Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters that his younger brother was attacked by four persons namely; Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry,” he said.

He noted that operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene where the victim was found lying unconscious. 

Mr Nguroje said the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. 

“His corpse has been deposited for autopsy,” he said.

He stated that suspects were currently at large, adding that the command had intensified efforts to track, arrest and bring them to justice.

The state commissioner of police, Kabir Umar Hassan, condemned the act.

He directed the deputy commissioner of police in-charge of investigation to take over the case and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution.
