Board begins payment of new pension rates, arrears to military pensioners

The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has begun implementation of newly approved pension rates and payment of arrears to military pensioners.
The MPB disclosed this in a statement by its public relations officer, Aliyu Mohammed, on Friday in Abuja.
Mr Mohammed said the adjustment followed the implementation of the new minimum wage and that the applicable arrears would be paid into pensioners’ accounts starting October 2.
According to him, the implementation of the new pension rates and payment of arrears have been processed by the board.
“The board appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation demonstrated by military pensioners throughout the implementation process,” he said.
Mr Mohammed reaffirmed the board’s commitment to timely pension payments and continuous improvement in pension administration.
He said the MPB also acknowledged the invaluable service and sacrifices of Nigeria’s military veterans.
He urged pensioners to continue to cooperate with the board as it strives to improve pension administration and service delivery.
