Kwara: One killed in Oko-Olowo highway crash

At least one person was killed while others sustained injuries after a commercial bus caught fire on the Oko-Olowo Expressway, Iye-Maja Junction in Ilorin, Kwara, on Sunday. The bus was carrying 21 passengers.
In a statement on Monday, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, spokesman for the Kwara fire service, said the crash occurred at about 6:35 p.m.
He said the bus had a tyre blowout, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which somersaulted before subsequently catching fire.
“The passengers were evacuated from the vehicle, with those who sustained injuries taken to the hospital for medical attention. Sadly, one person was confirmed deceased in the incident,” he said.
