The police command in Rivers says it arrested two suspected kidnappers for abducting a Port Harcourt resident.

In a statement on Monday, Agabe Kaborlo, the command’s spokesperson, said, “The command received credible information regarding the kidnapping of the victim, who was abducted on 6th September 2026 at the vicinity of Fidelity Bank, Garrison, Port Harcourt.”

She stated that the victim was reportedly held captive for three days at Igbugulu Waterside, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, before relatives paid a ₦10.3 million ransom for his release.

“Upon receipt of the information, operatives of the command Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU -AKU) immediately swung into action and commenced intelligence-led operations, which resulted in the arrest of two suspected members of the syndicate,” Ms Kaborlo stated.

She identified the suspects as Victor Ifeanyi, 24, aka ‘Big Boby’, a native of Aguleri Community in Otuocha LGA, Anambra, and Aniekan Okon Michael, 36, aka ‘Duff Man’, a native of Ikot Ukpor in Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects confessed to their alleged involvement in the operation and disclosed that the gang comprises six members who used a white mini-bus (Keke bus) during the operation,” Ms Kaborlo explained.

She added that the command has intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining syndicate members and bring them to justice.
