The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a two-day preventive maintenance exercise at the Ijebu-Ode Transmission Substation in Ogun, which will affect electricity supply to some communities.

In a statement on Thursday, the company announced it would conduct annual preventive maintenance on the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers at the Ijebu-Ode Transmission Substation on Thursday and Friday.

According to the company, the exercise will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, with engineers working on one transformer per day.

“The maintenance will be carried out on one transformer per day to enable TCN engineers to undertake routine checks and servicing required to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of the transformers,” it said.

The company said Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) would be unable to offtake electricity from the affected transformer during the maintenance period each day.

“On Thursday, 8th October, maintenance will be carried out on the T1 30MVA transformer, affecting electricity supply to Ijebu-Ode and Idowa. On Friday, 9th October, maintenance will be carried out on the T2 30MVA transformer, affecting electricity supply to Ijebu-Igbo and Barracks,” TCN said.

TCN said bulk power supply would be restored to each transformer at the end of its scheduled maintenance day.
