179 suicide searches, 227 specific references to water before Adetoro-Walters sisters died

A coroner’s report found that the three sisters who drowned together at Brighton beach planned to end their lives after finding that Christina Walters’s laptop showed her searching for suicide 179 times with 227 specific references to water. Their mother died in a similar situation after drowning to die in a lake near her home to die by suicide in 2010.
Mrs Adetoro was 43.
Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, cleaned out their shared apartment, closed all their bank accounts and settled their debts before booking the Uber that drove them from London to Brighton, where they plunged into the sea around 2:00 a.m. on May 13, knowing they could not swim, UK authorities stated.
The Uber driver said the trip to Brighton was strangely quiet as the sisters made no conversation.
Before their deaths, the sisters had also boarded a cab to Birmingham Close, close to where their mother died in 2010.
“The sea was particularly rough” on the day the sisters went to the beach to die, detective chief inspector Mark Cullimore told the inquest. Their mother had similarly taken her own life on a chilly day during winter.
They were last seen alive around 2:00 a.m. CCTV footage captured three figures believed to be the siblings entering the sea at 2:42 a.m. None of them could swim.
The sea brought to shore the body of Rebecca Walters while Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew and lifeboat recovered the bodies of Christina Walters and the eldest sister. Paramedics pronounced them all dead the same morning.
“On May 13, in hours of darkness, they entered the sea at Brighton. They could not swim, and sea conditions were adverse,” Penelope Schofield, the coroner for West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, said on Thursday. “I have to consider why they entered the water in the hours of darkness when they couldn’t swim. I find they deliberately entered the water with the intention to end their lives. It is clear that the medical cause of death for each of these three women is drowning.”
Ms Schofield added, “These three sisters lived very secluded lives. They were incredibly private.”
The sisters have another sibling who is still alive, Lilian Adetoro. Not much is known about her.
“We were four, now I am one,” Ms Adetoro wrote in the order of service for their funeral.
Toxicology tests showed no trace of alcohol or drugs in their systems. Autopsy results did not find any evidence of violence in their deaths.
Their father, Joseph Jacobson, who joined the hearing virtually, said he was heartbroken over the loss of his three daughters in a written statement.
“There are no words that can adequately express the pain of losing a child,” Mr Jacobson stated. “To lose all three of my precious daughters, Jane, Christina and Rebecca, is a heartbreak beyond anything I could ever have imagined. You were my daughters, you will always be my daughters and I will love you for the rest of my life. May your beautiful souls rest in perfect peace.”
Ms (Jane) Adetoro and Ms (Christina) Walters were recent accountancy graduates from Brunel University, and Ms (Rebecca) Walters worked in the human resources department.
