Ibeju-Lekki council advises security operatives on crime prevention

The chairman of the Ibeju-Lekki council area, Abdullahi Sesan-Olowa, has charged operatives of the Community Security Intelligence Network (CSIN) to strengthen intelligence gathering and ensure effective crime prevention.
Mr Sesan-Olowa gave the charge on Thursday during a sensitisation session for the operatives at the council secretariat.
He stressed the need to maintain a peaceful environment conducive to development.
The council boss urged the operatives to remain vigilant, disciplined and committed to protecting lives, property and the environment across the council area.
He reiterated the CSIN’s importance to Ibeju-Lekki’s security architecture.
Mr Sesan-Olowa said the operatives’ responsibilities required dedication, professionalism and a strong sense of duty.
He added that the network was expected to serve as a vital link between the council and relevant security agencies.
The chairman outlined the CSIN’s areas of operation to include coastal protection, waste policing, security intelligence and crime prevention.
He urged the operatives to remain proactive in identifying and reporting suspicious activities that could threaten peace, security and environmental sustainability in the area.
Mr Sesan-Olowa said appointing Raji Kamoru as the new CSIN commandant was part of efforts to strengthen coordination within the network.
He described security as central to the council’s development agenda.
He urged the operatives to take their duties seriously and maintain effective communication and collaboration with security agencies operating in Ibeju-Lekki.
He warned against misconduct, abuse of office, and actions that could undermine public confidence in the initiative.
Mr Sesan-Olowa stressed that every member must uphold integrity and professionalism in discharging their duties.
The chairman assured the operatives of the council’s support and urged them to justify the confidence the administration has placed in them.
He said the initiative’s success would depend largely on the operatives’ commitment, vigilance and collaboration with communities and established security agencies to sustain peace and security in the area.
