Five suspects arrested over abduction of 20 prospective members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State, were arraigned on Tuesday by the State Security Service before the state high court.

The suspects were arrested during intelligence-led operations in Rivers and Abia states between October 10 and 14.

The suspects arraigned in court are Mohammed Ali, Usman Aliyu, Babangida Aliyu, Ibrahim Jiji and Aminu Haliru.

The suspects were arrested following a joint team security raid while other suspects reportedly fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.

The corps members were kidnapped along the Owerri-Onitsha road in Imo State while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to orientation camps in the South-East and South-South.

The Peoples Gazette earlier reported that police deployed tactical teams alongside other security agencies to rescue the corps members after days in captivity.
