Kidnappers attack Millennium City estate in Kaduna, abduct residents
Residents of Nuru Suraj Estate in the Millennium City area of Kaduna have been thrown into fear following a fresh attack by suspected kidnappers who reportedly abducted about six people in the early hours of Tuesday.
A resident who identified herself as Maman Hamid, whose house is close to that of the victims, said that the attackers gained access to the estate through its second gate before carrying out the operation.
Ms Hamza said the incident caused panic among residents, who were left apprehensive about the area’s security situation.
She added that military personnel pursued the suspected kidnappers, leading to the rescue of some of the victims even though the kidnappers were able to escape.
The number of people rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing were not immediately established as of the time of filing this report.
The latest incident has renewed concerns over the safety of residents in Millennium City, a developing residential area that has experienced kidnapping incidents in recent years.
Residents have repeatedly expressed concerns about the activities of suspected kidnappers, particularly attacks on residential estates and communities on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis.
The latest attack also highlights concerns over access control at residential estates and the need for stronger security patrols, effective surveillance and prompt responses to distress calls.
In a previous incident in the area, suspected kidnappers reportedly abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate in Millennium City on the night of October 6, 2026, but were later rescued.
On October 12, 2026, police authorities reportedly announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido, with AK-47 rifles recovered.
The arrests underscored the need to sustain intelligence-led operations against kidnapping networks and those suspected of providing them with information.
The latest attack has heightened residents’ calls for stronger security measures, particularly around estate gates and access routes that could be exploited by criminal elements.
The police command in Kaduna has yet to react to the latest incident.
