Troops kill three suspected terrorists, recover arms in Kaduna, Kano
Troops of Fansan Yamma have killed three suspected terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle and cattle in separate operations conducted in Kaduna and Kano State.
In a statement on Friday, Tamuno Sinive, the spokesperson for the operation, said troops killed the suspected terrorists on Thursday while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He said the community came under attack from armed terrorists, adding that troops responded with superior firepower, successfully repelling the attack.
“Subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of 3 terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, 3 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.
“No casualties were recorded among the troops during the encounter,” Mr Sinive said.
He said that in another incident on Friday, troops, while on routine patrol, recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep from suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
“On sighting the advancing patrol, the suspected criminals abandoned the animals and fled the area,” he said.
He added that efforts to hand over the cattle to the appropriate authorities were in progress.
