Nigeria records two suspected Ebola cases in North-East

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified and isolated two suspected Ebola patients in the North-East region.
The NCDC, in a statement on Saturday, stated that the agency was undertaking contact identification and listing, while laboratory testing was being conducted.
The agency said, “Two suspected cases of Ebola disease have been identified in Nigeria’s North-East region. Both individuals have been isolated, contact identification and listing is ongoing, and laboratory testing is being conducted.”
The agency, however, clarified that being classified as suspected cases did not mean they were confirmed Ebola cases, noting that confirmation was subject to laboratory results.
The NCDC advised the public to maintain good hand hygiene, practise enhanced sanitation and follow guidance from public health authorities.
It promised to provide further updates as verified information became available.
