Years after first going viral, Lagos serial thief robs guests again at Oriental Hotel
About a decade after he went viral on social media for stealing at a public event, a notorious Lagos thief has robbed another guest at Oriental Hotel, sparking public reactions.
An X user, @deeeeoflagos, who described herself as an event planner, raised the alarm about the notorious Lagos thief stealing her belongings in a post on Wednesday.
The netizen said, “I never imagined having to make a post like this, but I desperately need your help. On October 31, while covering a wedding at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, my bag was stolen from inside the bride’s room.
“Thankfully, we have obtained CCTV footage showing the individual entering, taking my bag and leaving the hotel.”
She listed items in her stolen bag to include a laptop and hard drives containing undelivered projects, offering N500,000 for whoever can help track down the thief.
“The bag contained my MacBook Pro M1 and four external hard drives holding approximately FIVE weddings yet to be delivered to my clients.
“These are not just files. They are people’s once in a lifetime memories, months of hard work and my livelihood. I’m offering a N500,000 reward for credible information leading to the identification of this individual and recovery of my belongings through the appropriate authorities,” she stated.
Her post has sparked reactions from netizens and some pf other victims of the notorious thief, robbing people at Oriental Hotel.
Another X user, @Kunle_kenny, narrated his ordeal with the same thief a decade ago.
“Guys!!! I just saw a post on IG that triggered me afresh. The thief I was referring to in this quoted tweet was seen stealing again. Mind you, he stole my bag containing my life’s work 10 years ago. He was caught because he stole at Pat Utomi’s event at Muson centre.
“That was how his image made it to RRS Ikeja’s page. The same guy has stolen equipment worth 10s of millions. Listen, people hardly ever change. They should just end him or lock him up for life,” @Kunle_kenny said.
Additionally, on Instagram, @anonymousvisuals, alleged that the same thief stole two of his laptops in August 2023 at Oriental Hotel.
“I told the securities, only for them to tell me to CCTV camera and told the securities to not allow any of my crew members access into the hall, he acted as if he was a photographer too, he had a camera on his neck and when I was busy, he picked my bags to the toilet, removed the 2 laptops, and left the bag and left with it.
“When I found out, I tracked the laptops with Apple Find My and the laptops where at Ojuelegba, I couldn’t get the precise locations. I feel oriental hotel at 100% aware of this, so when I got home, my crews said they made random snaps and saw the guy trying to hide his face.”
