Defence ministry to receive CNG buses to ease staff transportation challenges

The Ministry of Defence says it will receive compressed natural gas (CNG) buses from the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (Pi-CNG & EV) to ease transportation challenges faced by its staff.
The special assistant on media to Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, Leah Katung-Babatunde, stated this in a statement on Thursday.
The minister received a delegation of the initiative led by its chairman, Ismaeel Ahmed, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Mr Musa said the Armed Forces of Nigeria had the human capital and technical capacity to support the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
He added that adopting CNG and electric vehicles would also boost military operations across the country.
The Chairman of the Initiative, Mr Ahmed, explained that the visit was aimed at seeking the ministry’s partnership to accelerate gas consumption and transition towards cleaner energy sources within the defence sector.
He announced the upcoming delivery of CNG buses to the ministry of defence and urged the ministry to prioritise sustainable energy sources for its transportation needs.
