Firefighters contain vehicle fire in Ilorin

The Kwara State Fire Service has contained a fire that engulfed a Toyota Hilux at Ita-Amadu Junction, Taiwo area of Ilorin, the state capital.
The vehicle, with registration number LAF 154 AE, caught fire while in motion on Saturday.
In a statement on Saturday, Hassan Adekunle, the agency’s spokesman, said a distress call was received at about 10:44 a.m., and firefighters turned out at the scene two minutes later.
“The fire affected the engine compartment and bonnet of the vehicle,” he said.
He said members of the public across the road noticed the fire while the vehicle was in motion.
“They promptly alerted the driver, helped stop the vehicle and immediately contacted the Kwara State Fire Service.
“Our firefighters swiftly commenced firefighting operations and successfully contained the fire, preventing further damage to the vehicle,” Mr Adekunle said.
He added that the prompt intervention of members of the public and the swift response of firefighters helped minimise damage to the vehicle.
