Police rescue 10 passengers abducted in Ogun, kill suspected kidnapper, recover N1. 3 million, rifle

The Ogun State police command says it killed one suspected kidnapper and rescued 10 passengers abducted from a commercial bus at Orita Fufu, Awfa-Ijebu area of the state.
The passengers who were reportedly abducted on Tuesday along the road were rescued on Saturday at about 8:30 p.m.
In a statement on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said that during a follow-up operation at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, police stormed the suspected kidnappers’ hideout along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, where a gun battle ensued.
“One suspected kidnapper was neutralised, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds,” he said.
Mr Babaseyi said the recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, N1 .3 million in cash and a mobile phone.
He added that police intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and urge members of the public to promptly report anyone sighted with suspicious gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
