Poland declares two-day national mourning over Kraków shooting

Poland on Sunday declared two-day national mourning over the mass shooting that killed six people and injured over 15 people in Kraków.
The suspected gunman, Michal O, shot by police officers, is currently in a critical condition after undergoing multiple surgeries.
He opened fire at Kraków’s Main Market Square from a moving vehicle, killing four women and two men including a British citizen before the police could stop him.
Two police officers were injured during the exchange of fire that weakened the assailant before he was taken to a hospital.
The gunman is a Polish national in his early twenties and believed to be influenced by the far-right ideology, according to interior minister Marcin Kierwinski.
“Everything points to the fact that the shooter was influenced by far-right ideology, a matter that will also be subject to investigation,” interior minister Marcin Kierwinski said at a news briefing. “Police officers are on-site, as are agents from the Internal Security Agency, both here at the scene and at the individual’s family home.”
Police also found three corpses, two women and a man, at the suspect’s residence in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski.
“There are strong indications that they are members of his immediate family,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
