Mob kills policeman in Lagos task force raid

The task force had seized bikes belonging to the motorcyclists in the area, leading to the chaos in the area.

A policeman was reported killed in a clash between the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Task Force and commercial motorcyclists on Thursday.

The police officer identified as Kazeem Abonde was killed following a mob attack by motorcyclists protesting a raid by the task force.

The task force had seized bikes belonging to the motorcyclists in the area, leading to chaos in the area.

The violence occurred at Ajao Estate in the Isolo area of Lagos.

Scores of people were injured in the fracas. A police van was also damaged by hoodlums.

The police spokesman in Lagos, Adekunle Ajisebutu, did not return to telephone calls and messages from The Gazette for comments.
