Ikoyi Building Collapse: Death toll rises to 22
The death toll from the collapsed building in Ikoyi rose to 22 on Wednesday, as two more bodies were pulled out by the rescue team, NEMA said.
The third-day update from the agency said that two male bodies were recovered from the rubble.
“We recovered two male bodies early this morning, bringing the toll to 22,”said the southwest coordinator of National Emergency Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye.
He said the number of survivors remain nine as emergency responders continue their search.
“We won’t give up until we reach ground zero,” Mr Farinloye added.
The building located at 20 Gerrard Road collapsed around 2:00 p.m. on Monday while workers were working at the site.
Over 50 people were trapped at the time of the collapse, the emergency responders are still on ground searching for more survivors.
