APGA/Soludo victory, reward for good governance: Victor Umeh

He said Mr Soludo’s victory was significant to APGA and expressed the hope that the party would spread to other parts of Nigeria.

Victor Umeh, former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), says the victory of Charles Soludo at the 2021 governorship election in Anambra was a reward of the people to the party.

Mr Umeh, the collation agent of APGA, spoke shortly after Mr Soludo was declared winner of the contest by Florence Obi, the returning officer at the Independent National Electoral Commission (Commission (INEC) headquarters, Awka, early Wednesday morning.

Ms Obi, the vice-chancellor of the University of Calabar, announced the result as APGA 112,229; PDP 53,807; APC 43,285, and YPP 21,261 votes.

Mr Umeh explained that APGA had served the people of Anambra well since 2003, hence their decision to continue to reward the party with victory not just in Anambra but across Nigeria.

He described the election as the best in the history of Nigeria, disclosing that APGA is proud to win in 19 local government areas and coming second in two others with slim margins.

Mr Umeh, who represented Anambra Central in the Senate, said APGA remained deep-rooted in Anambra.

He said Mr Soludo’s victory was significant to APGA and expressed the hope that the party would spread to other parts of Nigeria.

On what to expect in Mr Soludo’s administration, the APGA chieftain said Anambra was in for a better deal as the governor-elect, pointing out that Mr Soludo has track records of excellent performance.

He described Mr Soludo as the best from the pack in the race, adding that he will provide purposeful leadership to the people of Anambra.
