Insecurity: UNDP presents draft bill to establish peace agency to Benue assembly

The United Nations Development Programmes have presented a draft bill for a law to establish a peace agency in Benue to the state house of assembly.
The draft bill was presented to the assembly on Wednesday during a courtesy visit on the speaker, Titus Uba, by UNDP country representatives.
Presenting the bill on behalf of the team, the UNDP focal person, William Zuma, commended the state assembly towards ensuring peace in Benue.
Mr Zuma said Benue would become one of the leading states in peace initiatives if the peace agency is established.
He explained that the draft bill was developed by UNDP to foster peaceful coexistence in Benue, and appealed to the speaker to quicken its passage.
Receiving copies of the bill, speaker Uba commended UNDP for their constant intervention in the state and promised that the assembly would look into the bill as soon as possible.
