An NGO, League of Women Voters of Nigeria, has urged Nigerian women to show more interest in politics by contesting for elective positions.

National Programme Director of the organisation, Titilayo Akerele, stated this during a lecture at a training programme, organised by the NGO, on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.

While stating that politics should not be left for men alone, she warned women to avoid playing second fiddle in the business of governance.

She said the percentage of women occupying political positions in Nigeria was not encouraging, adding that the NGO was established to support women to become important in the society.
