The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra says a crash inward Amawbia Bridge on Awka-Enugu Expressway, Anambra, has claimed the life of a middle-aged man.

Adeoye Irelewuyi, the FRSC sector commander, confirmed the crash on Tuesday in Awka.

Mr Irelewuyi explained that the crash at about 6:15.p.m could be attributed to speed and loss of control.

“The fatal crash involved an unidentified driver of a black Nissan Pathfinder car and an unidentified driver of a white trailer with no registration number,” he added.

According to the report, the driver of the Nissan car was on speed when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the trailer, and crashed.

“Three male adults were involved in the crash. The victims were taken to Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, where the driver of the car was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” he said.

The corps sector commander also disclosed that the driver’s remains had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

While condoling with the dead victim’s family, he warned motorists to desist from speeding, urging them to maintain a safe speed limit.
