The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has commended President Bola Tinubu, security agencies, and local hunters for their intervention in releasing the kidnap victims in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The monarch’s media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, made this known in a statement in Ibadan on Saturday.

He said the feat had further demonstrated the federal government’s commitment to the security of citizens’ lives and property.

He described the release of the victims as a landmark achievement of the present administration.

According to him, the administration must take security seriously, as meaningful development cannot occur in an atmosphere of insecurity.

“As a follow-up to this development, the government must ensure that all the communities that share a border with the National Park are fully secure.

“Also, the government must ensure the proper rehabilitation of the victims, so as to heal them from the trauma and psychological stress they have undergone while in captivity,” he said.

The revered traditional ruler commended Governor Seyi Makinde for standing by the victims and their relations during their moment of trial.

He also commended the security operatives, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, and the leadership of other security agencies for the determination and unwavering commitment which led to the safe release of the victims.

The 47 victims were kidnapped in the Yawota and Ahoro Esinle communities in Oriire Local Government Area, and were released on Friday after almost two months in captivity.
