AFCON: Senegal narrowly beat Zimbabwe

Teranga Lions of Senegal narrowly defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 in their first game of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday.
Both teams went into the first half break without goals. However, the Teranga Lions grabbed all three points few seconds to the end of the second half.
In an attempt to block a shot, Kelvin Madzongue’s hand touched the ball in the box.
After consulting the VAR, referee Mario Escobar awarded a penalty to the Senegalese few seconds to the end of the game.
Sadio Mane fired in a winner for Teranga Lions from the spot in the 90+6 minute, snatching three points from the Zimbabweans who had put up a brilliant performance from the blast of the whistle.
Senegal controlled 62 per cent of ball possession but had just three shots on target, while Zimbabwe with 38 ball possession managed to curtail the Senegalese, taking two shots on target.
The Teranga Lions are now first in Group B with three points and a goal, while Zimbabwe is last on the group, pending the outcome of the game between Guinea and Malawi.
