AFCON: Super Eagles will make Nigeria proud, apologetic Ighalo says

Odion Ighalo says Nigeria’s Super Eagles have good players to reach the Africa Cup of Nations final, as he apologises for not being able to join the team to the tournament.
“Sorry I cannot be there. But I’m supporting the boys all the way. I call on Nigerians to support the team. Because with their prayers and support, the team will make Nigeria proud,” said Ighalo. “Go, boys, and make us proud. We have enough talent in that team to take us to the final.”
Ighalo, 32, made this call in a video posted by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, a day before Nigeria will face Egypt in their first game of the competition.
Though Ighalo did not disclose why he could not make it to AFCON, citing NFF, Peoples Gazette reported that Saudi Arabia club Al- Shabab refused to release Ighalo.
Ighalo was the top scorer at the AFCON 2019, in which Nigeria finished third.
