Suspect docked for attempting to escape from court

A 22-year-old man, Mubarak Olarenwaju, was docked in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for attempting to escape from the court.
The police charged Olarenwaju, whose house address was not given, with willful damage to court property and attempted escape from lawful custody.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 7.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Taiwo Popoola admitted the defendant to bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until February 3 for mention.
