Biodun Olujimi, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the June 18 Governorship election in Ekiti State, has withdrawn from the race citing irregularities.

“I have only pulled out of the race and not for any aspirant,” the senator said at the venue of the party’s primary accreditation held at Pope John Paul 11 Pastoral Centre in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday.

“My party has not been fair to me at all, I feel cheated with the ongoing situation,” Mrs Olujimi, representing Ekiti South Senatorial District at the Upper chamber of the National Assembly, said while citing irregularities in the processes leading to the primaries.

Mrs Olujimi who denied stepping down for a particular aspirant alleged that the delegates’ list brought by the electoral body had been allegedly doctored in favour of a camp in the party.

Also briefing journalists at the venue of the primary voting centre, Segun Oni, an aspirant and former Governor of Ekiti State, applauded the smooth conduct of the accreditation and the entire process so far.

Mr Oni, however, complained of the arrangements of the ballot boxes, which was immediately addressed by the Chairman of the PDP electoral body, Emmanuel Udom, who is also the governor of Akwa-Ibom.

The election proper, however, commenced at exactly 3:59 p.m.
