The Sagamu Unit Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun has warned motorists against speeding and dangerous driving during harmattan to avoid road crashes.

Unit commander Iyanda Taofiq told journalists on Monday in Sagamu that the warning became necessary because of harmattan causing poor visibility.

“Motorists need to be cautious and exercise patience by not driving recklessly, especially against the traffic to reduce mishaps during the harmattan,” Mr Taofiq warned.

The development, he said, could lead to road crashes and loss of lives.

“In addition, they need to shun wrongful overtaking because of poor visibility,” he added.

Mr Taofiq implored motorists to ensure that their vehicles’ headlamps, parking, and brake lights function well before getting on the roads.

He also stressed the need for motorists to check the terminals of their vehicles’ batteries.
