The Federal Road Safety Corps has urged its regular and special marshals to proffer solutions to motorists when their vehicles develop faults on the road.

The FRSC zonal commanding officer in-charge of FCT and Niger State, Shehu Mohammed, made the call on Saturday, while addressing personnel of the corps during a “national patrol” held at FRSC Nyanyan Unit Command in Abuja.

“As special marshal, you should stop to assist motorists whose vehicle had an issue on the highway either to call a mechanic or towing van.

“These are the things that boost our image, not just enforcement. The Corps Marshal himself last week told us that enforcement is just about 50 per cent of FRSC activities,” Mr Mohammed said.

He advised officers to shun any act that could tarnish their image, just as he stressed the need to sustain public engagement and awarness that promote road safety.

Meanwhile, he advised motorists to be orderly and desist from blocking roads while on queue at fueling stations.

Mr Mohammed said the advice was important following the current fuel situation in the country, where motorists now block sections of the roads in FCT while trying to buy patrol.
