Governors in the All Progressive Congress (APC) have resolved to support whoever President Muhammadu Buhari presents for the position of the party’s national chairman, says Kebbi governor Atiku Bagudu.

Mr Bagudu, chairman of the Progressives Governos Forum, disclosed this to reporters after the governor met with Mr Buhari on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja.

The governors were led to the meeting by the chairman of the interim committee of the party and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.

The APC is set to hold its national convention on March 26 to elect national officers to run the party for the next four years.

Mr Bagudu also said efforts were being put to ensure officers of the party emerge via consensus.

President Buhari had in January refused to assent to the amended Electoral Act  because the National Assembly had stipulated direct primary as the only option for parties to choose their candidates.

Mr Buhari sent back the bill to the national assembly  to amend the bill so as to leave to party’s discretion what process they chose in selecting their candidates.
