The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Monday stalled the judgement in the suit seeking the declaration of the seat of Yakubu Dogara vacant.

The suit, filed against Mr Dogara, was on account of his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The judgment in two separate suits filed against him was fixed for Monday by Justice Donatus Okorowo.

The first suit was FHC/ABJ/CS/883/30 and filed by Incorporated Trustees of United Global Resources for Peace Organisation Vs. Yakubu Dogara and five others was number one on the cause list.

However, the second suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1060/20, filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vs. Yakubu Dogara and four others was on number five on today’s cause list.

On a visit to Court 6, where Mr Okorowo usually presides, the courtroom was empty, with the court registrar while other judicial workers were seen on duty.

It was, however, learnt that Mr Okorowo could not deliver judgments since the court had begun its Easter vacation.

The court began the vacation on April 8 and will end on April 25.

“My lord is waiting for the chief judge of the court to give a fiat for the judgments to be delivered during this vacation. But as it is now, no date has been fixed, and parties will be communicated as soon as another date is fixed,” one of the court workers said.

PDP and the group had asked the court to remove the former speaker of the House of Representatives as a member representing Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Federal Constituency of Bauchi for defecting to APC.
