UK government orders another lockdown as COVID numbers swell

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Monday night ordered another lockdown as the country experienced surges in number of coronavirus infection.
Over 50,000 new of coronavirus cases were recorded in the UK on Monday.
In a live broadcast on Monday evening, Mr. Johnson urged citizens to stay at home as the government combat the new strain of coronavirus ravaging the country.
“We now have a new variant of the virus and it’s been both frustrating and alarming to see the speed with which the new variant is spreading”, Mr. Johnson said. “The government is once again instructing you to stay at home.”
Mr. Johnson added that all schools will remain close while schools to adopt remote learning until February.
“Primary schools, secondary schools and colleges across England must move to remote provision,” Mr. Johnson said.
Globally, over 85million cases of coronavirus have been reported, while over 1.8million persons have died as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
