Abia appoints new technical adviser, sporting director for Enyimba FC

The Abia State Government has appointed new management staff for Enyimba FC to reposition the club in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The state Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Metu, announced the changes on Tuesday at a meeting with supporters held at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
The changes affected the positions of sporting director and technical adviser.
According to Mr Metu, Emmanuel Detchuoa has been appointed as the new technical adviser, while Daniel Eke was named the club’s sporting director, replacing Ifeanyi Ekwueme and Deji Ayeni, respectively.
He said the appointments would take immediate effect.
Some supporters at the stadium, popularly known as the “Colombia fans ” used the occasion to call for the removal of the club’s chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, and the appointment of a new chairman.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr Eke thanked Governor Alex Otti for finding him worthy of the appointment, noting that he had previously served other clubs in similar capacities.
Mr Eke pledged to work diligently to ensure stability and consistency in the team’s performance, expressing confidence that the club would record improved results.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Nwaobialor Ananaba, expressed optimism that the players would perform better under the new technical adviser and sporting director.
Mr Ananaba, while apologising to supporters for recent challenges facing the club, assured the fans that the state government was committed to restoring the club’s status in the league.
“We are not here to perform magic but to ensure the club retains its place in the league. Enyimba belongs at the top, and we are working to return there by next season,” he said.
The commissioner urged the fans to give the new management team their full support and sufficient time to achieve positive results.
The deputy governor also informed supporters that the club’s accountant-general would soon be replaced, though no name was announced.
