Abuja errant driver arrested for dangerous driving

A mobile court of the Federal Road Safety Corps at Kabusa Roundabout, Abuja, has remanded a driver, Mubarak Mansur, after his arraignment on charges of alleged route traffic violation and dangerous driving.
In a statement on Friday, Osondu Ohaeri, the corps’ spokesperson, said, “The mobile court ordered that the articulated vehicle involved in the incident be impounded at the FRSC RS7.1 FCT sector command, while the defendant was remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
“The incident occurred at about 1300hrs on Thursday, 3 September 2026, during a mobile court operation at Kabusa Roundabout, where the driver was arrested for alleged route traffic violation.”
He noted that while impounding the vehicle, the driver reportedly diverted from the prescribed route with the arresting marshal still in the vehicle, prompting the marshal to raise the alarm and call for reinforcement.
According to him, following a coordinated response by FRSC and police operatives, the vehicle was intercepted and re-routed to the Apo Unit command.
The corps marshal, Shehu Mohammed, while speaking on the arrest, reiterated that road safety enforcement is not merely about penalising traffic offenders, but about protecting lives and ensuring that every road user complies with established traffic regulations.
He warned that attempts to evade lawful enforcement or compromise the safety of enforcement personnel would be treated seriously and handled in accordance with the law.
