FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the Federal Capital Territory Civil Service Commission.

The approval forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The FCT had earlier commissioned and flagged off more than 30 projects between June 8 and July 17 to commemorate the third anniversary of Mr Tinubu’s administration.

The chairman of the commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the development was proof of the FCT administration’s commitment to staff welfare in line with Mr Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

According to Mr Ezeh, the promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted from July 1 to 3, while junior staffers sat the promotion examinations on July 10.

Mr Ezeh commended Mr Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to carry out its statutory responsibilities efficiently.

He disclosed that the minister directed the commission to immediately commence the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure eligible officers are promoted without unnecessary delays.

Mr Ezeh stated, “Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory, and for us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the 3rd anniversary of Mr President.”

The directive showed the administration’s commitment to complementing ongoing infrastructural transformation across the FCT with improved staff welfare and career development.

The initiative would allow civil servants to benefit from achievements under Mr Tinubu’s administration as it marks its third anniversary.

He also commended civil servants for being peaceful and orderly throughout the 2025 promotion exercise, urging officers expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.

Mr Ezeh thanked the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation and support, which contributed to the successful conduct of the promotion exercise.

He urged prospective candidates for the 2026 promotion exercise to begin preparations early, noting that promotion in the FCT civil service is merit-based, highly competitive and subject to the availability of vacancies.
