Actress Ali Bastian diagnosed with stage two breast cancer

English actress Ali Bastian has been diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy ahead of a mastectomy and radiotherapy.
Best known for her role in Hollyoaks from 2001 to 2007, Bastian, 42, described the diagnosis as “a total shock” in an interview with OK! Magazine. “I have mornings when I wake up and I’ve forgotten… and then suddenly I remember. I’m still trying to process it,” she shared.
Initially believing she had a blocked duct, Bastian sought further medical advice when antibiotics didn’t help. “It wasn’t clearing up, and the more I felt it, the more it felt like this wasn’t just a blocked duct,” she explained. “I went to my GP and I said, ‘Actually, can I go to the clinic now?’ and she was very supportive of that.”
The actress lives in Ireland with her husband, David O’Mahony, and their two children, Isabella, 19 months, and Isla, four.
Bastian is also seeing a psychologist who specialises in oncology.
Despite the circumstances, Bastian remains hopeful about returning to acting. “I will get through this and come out the other side,” she affirmed.
