The Adamawa State Government has distributed instructional materials to senior secondary schools in the state to enhance teaching and learning

In a speech during the event in Yola on Wednesday, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, said that the initiative was meant to promote education.

Mr Fintiri, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa George-Farauta, said that the materials were important, especially in imparting knowledge to the pupils including serving as teaching aids to the teachers.

“Our administration has placed so much priority on education and we will not relent in providing relevant instructional materials in our schools,” the governor said.

The Executive Secretary of the State Post-Primary Education Board, Samuel Wegerang, listed the items to include 25,982 report sheet booklets, 11,996 student files and 77,994 scheme of work booklets.

Other were 5,985 units of class attendance register, 3,486 cartons of white chalk, 4,998 packets of blue biros and 84 cartons of A4 papers.

Mr Wegerang described the materials as desirable and timely, considering the pressing need for them in the schools.

He lauded the efforts of the government in making such exercise a routine affair.
According to him, this administration has made the procurement and distribution of instructional materials an annual event.

He also warned school principals and teachers and those who would take custody of the materials against diverting them.

He said, “We would closely monitor their usage and whoever is found to be diverting or misusing them would be sanctioned, accordingly.’’
