Gbemileke Alagbe, a governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, on Wednesday, approached a Federal High Court, Ibadan Division, to declare him as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

In a 16 paragraph exparte motion filed by Abayomi Idowu, counsel to the applicant, Mr Alagbe prayed the court to pronounce him as the authentic winner of the primary election that took place on May 22 in Ibadan.

Mr Idowu also prayed the court to order the party not to present any other result other than the one in which his client won the election.

Furthermore, the applicant’s counsel also prayed the court to order the  ADC in Oyo State to present a certificate of return to his client.

He also asked the court to restrain the party from submitting any name other than that of Mr Alagbe to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mr Idowu told the court that the matter was such an urgent one because of INEC’s requirement that all political parties must submit the list of their candidates by June 26 2026.

Consequently, Justice Uche Agomoh ordered an originating summons to be  served on the respondents and adjourned the suit until June 25 for hearing on all applications.
