The presidency has dismissed the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) claim that President Bola Tinubu‘s government is the most incompetent in Nigeria’s history. It insisted that the current administration is improving citizens’ lives.

Mr Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, told Peoples Gazette via text message on Thursday night that Mr Tinubu has, over time, been applauded for his economic reforms.

“Our records are there for every right-thinking Nigerian to see. The World Bank, the IMF, and the rating agencies have all applauded the economic strides achieved by President Tinubu and his team,” Mr Onanuga stated.

He added, “The stock market is booming, investors are bringing money into the economy, and companies are thriving and delivering mega profits. We are helping children receive education.”

According to Mr Onanuga, the Tinubu-led administration has also improved healthcare and embarked on the construction of superhighways.

“We are not just building ordinary roads; we are building roads that can last more than 30 years,” the presidential aide said.

The ADC, in a statement by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Thursday, slammed Mr Tinubu’s government over the implementation of national budgets.

The ADC said that despite the Tinubu-led government’s claim of “performing wonders,” Nigerians still live in poverty, adding, “at least six out of every ten Nigerians are unable to feed themselves.”

He said Mr Tinubu’s government has continued to boast of historic revenue collection and unprecedented foreign reserve balances despite borrowing more aggressively than any other government in the country’s history.

However, Mr Onanuga criticised the ADC for not having a manifesto or a register of party members, despite claims that Nigerians are joining the party.

“The ADC is actually unworthy of our response, a party that wants to contest for power and till now has not published its manifesto and, despite all the noise of people flooding to the party at the beginning, does not have a register of members,” Mr Onanuga said.
